![]() The Doom Marine was stationed on Mars and was ordered to go to Phobos after the UAC experiments had caused an invasion of demons. Weapons Doom using his shotgun on Barons of Hell The Doom Marine dodges the giant demon's attacks and fires the BFG, destroying the Cyberdemon at last. Barons, Revenants, Zombies all tearing apart each other, the marine finally gets the BFG and goes off to face the Cyberdemon. The marine finally finds the ultimate weapon, the BFG-9000 past an all-out demon brawl. He then encounters a Demon and then a Spectre, and gets a hold of the Chaingun and Plasma Rifle. The marine faces off against the Zombies and Cacodemons, getting the Shotgun and Chainsaw in the process. He goes on to encounter the massive Cyberdemon who he punches and retreats to look for a gun. The Doom comic starts with the Doom Marine going insane from using a berserker pack and ripping out the spine of an Imp. In the finished product, this nearly happens to the Marine in the final level of the first episode, but he continues his adventure. "Dacote" is an acronym for "Dies at conclusion of this episode", and Buddy was supposed to be killed by a boss at the end of the planned third episode. The sole non-playable character, Buddy Dacote, bore the most similarities to the original game's eventual protagonist. Tom Hall's original design draft, "The Doom Bible", described several planned characters, but they were not used for the final version. Romero said, " There was never a name for the DOOM marine because it's supposed to be YOU." The original game's co-designer John Romero said this was to increase player immersion. Creation CharacteristicsĬreated by id Software, the Doom Marine had no name, as it wasn't necessary. ![]() The final boss, Icon of Sin, is an immense baphomet that the Marine defeats at the end of Doom II. He would later encounter the Spider Mastermind and destroy him. ![]() The Marine eventually faced off against the massive Cyberdemon, the guardian of the Tower of Babel, and defeated him. He killed nearly the whole demon army and reached the teleporter to Deimos. ![]()
